MLASS wings supporting MH-60M

Unitech Composites has delivered the first production shipset of multi-station lightweight armament support structure (MLASS) wings for utilisation on the US Army’s MH-60M, following the contract award at the end of 2014.

This is the first of nine shipsets that will be delivered to the US Army Special Operations Forces Support Activity. 

Dan Kinney, military programmes business development manager for Unitech Composites, told Shephard that the MLASS composite weapons pylons weigh 134kg – lightweight being a crucial requirement for the US Army’s rotary platforms. The pylon dimensions are 178cm length, 71cm in diameter and a width of 48cm.
