Mi-35M for the Russian Federal Security Service

Russia's Federal Security Service (FSS) has begun recapitalisation of its attack helicopter fleet with next-generation day/night-capable models to help with border security in the troubled North Caucasus region.

According to the BMPD blog maintained by the Moscow-based Centre for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies, a batch of five Mi-35M Hinds built at Rostvertol, ordered in 2015, were taken on strength by the 2nd United Aviation Detachment. It is believed the aircraft were received in April of this year. The unit is based at Mikhailovsk in the southern part of Russia.
