MH-139 upsets the pack to claim UH-1N Huey replacement win
The Boeing-Leonardo MH-139 has beaten off industry competition from Sikorsky and the Sierra Nevada Corporation to claim a $2.4 billion US Air Force UH-1N Huey replacement programme contract.
In a decision that had been expected to see Sikorsky's HH-60U - a derivative of the UH-60M Black Hawk - take the spoils, Boeing has certainly upset the odds.
A total quantity of 84 aircraft will be produced from two Philadelphia facilities, one belonging to Leonardo and the other Boeing, with training devices and associated support equipment also included in the package, according to the US DoD.
More specifically Leonardo will assemble the aircraft,
