MD 530Gs boost Malaysian firepower

The Malaysian Army had been seeking attack helicopters for a number of years, although budgetary constraints stymied that goal. However, the recently announced contract for six MD 530G scout attack rotorcraft will give army aviation a much-need boost in terms of firepower.

MD Helicopters exhibited an MD 530G at last year’s LIMA exhibition in Langkawi. Craig Kitchen, chief commercial officer for MD Helicopters, said at that time, ‘There are any number of opportunities in this region that would be well served by one of our armed gunships.’
