Lithuanians seek Hip replacement

The commander of Lithuania’s Šiauliai Air Base, Lt Colonel Antanas Matutis, has outlined the Lithuanian Air Force’s (LAF) plans to introduce a new utility helicopter by 2022 at the IPQC International Helicopter Conference in London on 30-31 January.

The current LAF helicopter fleet consists of three Russian Helicopters Mil Mi-8T Hips and three Airbus AS365 N3+ Dauphins.

The LAF is looking at around six medium utility helicopters for service entry in the next four years. These must be an off-the-shelf type and not an ‘Airwolf 2022’ emerging technology, said Matutis.
