LIMA 2013: Problems persist with RMAF Cougars

Relations between Eurocopter Malaysia and the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) remain at an all-time low because of restrictions affecting the EC725.

Gearbox problems have led to the civilian EC225 equivalent being banned from all over-water flying and to continued checks. A local official told Shephard that Eurocopter were aware of the issues before the two helicopters were handed over last November, but did not advise the RMAF. Not too surprisingly, the RMAF is understood to be less than satisfied with the situation.
