LCR-350 AHRS selected for Airbus Helicopters platforms
Northrop Grumman will supply its Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS) for a number of Airbus Helicopters helicopter platforms under an agreement announced on 21 October.
The LCR-350 AHRS, developed by Northrop Grumman LITEF, is designed for civil and military applications on rotary- and fixed-wing platforms, to provide critical flight control data regarding an aircraft's heading and attitude.
Based on the standard LCR-300 AHRS, it features a high-performance, micro-electro-mechanical system inertial measurement unit and enables directional gyro mode operation, which minimises magnetic compass errors.
The system will be certified for use on a number of helicopters in the Airbus Helicopter range, with production scheduled to begin in 2016.
Eckehardt Keip, managing director, Northrop Grumman LITEF, said: ‘Our new LCR-350 is a cost-effective solution designed to perform even in the most demanding environmental conditions that are typical for helicopters.’
