LAAD 2011: Brazil unveils new EC725s
The Brazilian armed forces publicly unveiled its first three EC725 Cougar helicopters out of a 50 aircraft order at LAAD 2011 in Rio de Janeiro on 12 April.
The three aircraft – one for each of the services – were publicly displayed by Eurocopter subsidary Helibras, which is taking over an increasing amount of the manufacture of the aircraft.
Helibras executive vice president, Eduardo Mauad, told Shephard the company was currently focusing much of its efforts on expanding its Itajubá EC725 facility – doubling the workforce and building a new production hangar – in preparation for taking over 50% of
