Kongsberg wins HOSS contracts
Kongsberg Maritime Camera Group has earned multiple contracts for its upgraded Helicopter Observation Surveillance System (HOSS), the company announced on 17 August.
The company will deliver the latest versions of HOSS to the undisclosed customers from the third quarter of 2015.
The HOSS provides real-time video monitoring capabilities for helideck operations aboard naval surface ships. It functions in extreme low-light conditions and fully complies with US MIL standards.
The latest system upgrade was successfully implemented and trialled in early 2015. This upgraded system can be integrated to third party video management software packages and fully supports Internet Protocol communications.
Video management software packages are being increasingly retro-fitted on-board existing vessels during mid-life upgrades and fitted onto new-build vessels. The system's line replaceable modules remain backwards compatible due to its modular design.
