Kawasaki to leverage OH-1 technology in new utility helicopter

Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) says it will leverage the technology it developed for the OH-1 Ninja observation helicopter in the UH-X programme for the Japan Ground Self Defence Forces (GSDF).

The company received an order from the Japanese Ministry of Defence in late March for the new aircraft which is due to be ready in five years time.

The aircraft will be used to replace the UH-1J and will be used by the GSDF for a variety of missions including transport of goods and personnel.
