Ka-226T certified in Russia – at last

In a long-awaited development, the Kamov Ka-226T twin-engine co-axial helicopter received its long-delayed type certificate by the Interstate Aviation Committee (ARMAK) at the end of March.

The new variant will supersede the Rolls Royce 250-C20R/2-engined Ka-226, which has been built on the production line at KumAPE plant in Kumertau since 2004 and delivered mainly to the Russian ministries of defence and the interior.

The Ka-226T is powered by two Turbomeca Arrius 2G1 engines, derated to 580shp (421kW) to provide enhanced performance in hot and high conditions, and features the UKBP KBO-226 flight/navigation suite with four flat-panel displays.
