Israel presses ahead with V-22 tiltrotor purchase

Israel has formally requested a sale of six Bell Boeing V-22B Osprey tiltrotor aircraft, according to a January 14 press release by the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA). 

The latest step confirms announcements by Pentagon officials in late 2013 which indicated that the US would facilitate the fast track procurement of six V-22 tiltrotors for Tel Aviv.

The Israeli V-22 aircraft will come from available capacity in the second multiyear procurement contract, which the Pentagon signed with Bell Boeing on 12 June, 2013. All aircraft will be delivered according to the current Block C standard, which benefits from
