The third Marine Corps tiltrotor squadron to serve in Iraq - VMM-266 - will soon be coming to the end of its deployment.

The 'Fighting Griffins' have continued to build on a reputation started by the squadrons here before it for getting the job done - and fast, and in virtually any weather.

The area of operations covered by their mission takes in the whole of Al Anbar Province in Iraq. But virtually all of that area is well within an hour's reach by this very capable aircraft - most places within 40 minutes. A round trip from their base
