Inzpire's GECO Mission Support System (MSS) for the UK's Puma helicopter force has achieved Initial Operating Capability (IOC), it announced on 11 March.

The GECO MSS can be configured for rotary or fixed wing platforms and provides interoperability with existing mission support systems. It is designed around an open architecture and is suitable for land and air users. The system will soon implement domain and role-specific ‘apps’ and connectivity to cover maritime users.

Jonny Smith, head, mission systems group, Inzpire, said: ‘Securing the Puma MSS contract, in a whole of market competition which featured some major players in the field, represents a strategic step change for Inzpire and demonstrates that our self-funded R&D initiatives have hit the target.

‘I believe that this project signals that the defence market is wide open for companies with our innovative, value for money approach and we hope to be adding numerous other platforms to our GECO MSS portfolio soon. I am confident that our GECO System will provide the benchmark against which all mission support systems will be measured.’
