Indra to supply Spanish EC135 training system
Indra has been awarded a contract to supply an integrated training system for the EC135 helicopter by the Defense Ministry of Spain, the company announced on 10 February.
The $16.3 million contract will be implemented in the Spanish ground forces simulation centre at Coronel Maté base in Colmenar Viejo, Madrid.
This system is comprised of a computer-assisted trainer for learning about helicopter systems and flight and maintenance procedures, simulation support systems and a level D mission simulator, which reproduces aircraft flight behaviour.
The new training solutions provided for EC135 will be compatible with the visual and tactical databases of the Chinook, Cougar and Tiger simulators that were previously provided by the company. At present, the Spanish ground forces have 12 EC135 helicopters - known as HE-26 in their flight training version.
The EC135 is suitable for offshore platform services, emergency medical services, corporate/VIP transport, military training and police surveillance and traffic control.
