Indian helicopter RfI closes, again

After three false starts, India’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) will close an RfI for domestically-built single-engine reconnaissance and surveillance helicopters (RSH) on 17 February. 

Both the Army Aviation Corps (AAC) and Indian Air Force (IAF) are seeking 197 craft on a ‘Buy and Make' in India basis.

The project, worth approximately $2.5 billion, saw the RfI dispatched to state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), as well as privately-owned Bharat Forge, Jubiland Bhartia Group, Larsen & Toubro, Mahindra Aerospace, Pipavav, Punj Lloyd, Reliance, and Tata Advanced Systems.
