India makes Mi-25 Afghan donation

The Afghan Air Force (AAF) is now in receipt of the first example of four Mil Mi-25 attack helicopters that are being donated by India.

The Mi-25 was transported to Kabul inside a Boeing C-17A Globemaster transport aircraft since it was not allowed to fly over Pakistani airspace. India will also offer associated training to Afghan pilots.

As India prepares to induct a fleet of 22 Boeing AH-64E Apache attack helicopters beginning in 2018, its ageing fleet of Mi-25s will become surplus.
