ILA 2012: German Tigers could deploy to Afghanistan before NH90

The German Army could deploy its Tiger attack helicopters to Afghanistan by the end of the year and before it sends its NH90s to the region, it has emerged.

Although a Tiger deployment needs political approval, the head of German Army Aviation, Brig Gen Reinhard Wolski, told Shephard that the Tiger could be made ready for an Afghan deployment by the end of the year following the re-delivery to the army of the first Tigers modified by Eurocopter as part of the Afghanistan Stabilization German Army Rapid Deployment (ASGARD) project.
