IDEX 2015: ISIS to impact Middle East rotorcraft plans
The protracted fight against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) will cast a long shadow over military requirements in the region, particularly in the rotorcraft sector.
For helicopter manufacturers and systems suppliers, the conflict provides a ready-cooked sales-pitch about the utility of attack/scout helicopters and the need for viable and responsive CSAR coverage.
Frost & Sullivan industry analyst Alix Leboulanger argued that for many Middle Eastern nations, it is the level of threat perception that influences helicopter procurement rather than available funding.
