H+S Aviation to support LHTEC CTS800 turboshaft engines
H+S Aviation (a subsidiary of Global Engine Services) has signed an agreement with the Light Helicopter Turbine Engine Company (LHTEC – a JV between Honeywell and Rolls-Royce) to provide OEM-authorised maintenance, repair and overhaul services for CTS800 turboshaft engines at its facility in Portsmouth, UK.
Over a ten-year period, H+S Aviation will work with LHTEC on CTS800-4A and CTS800-4N series engines that power AgustaWestland Super Lynx and AW159 Wildcat helicopters (pictured).
Hugh McElroy, Global Engine Services president and COO, noted: ‘First and foremost, our focus will be on our employees’ health and safety; therefore, we will work with LHTEC to train our team of technicians on the maintenance of the CTS800 engine line through virtual channels, given the state of the COVID-19 pandemic and international travel restrictions.’
Around 54% of CTS800 engines worldwide are used in helicopters operated by the UK MoD. The remainder have been delivered to Algeria, Japan, Oman, South Africa, Thailand and South Korea.
