Honeywell HUMS for Singapore Chinooks

The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) has chosen Honeywell to supply health and usage monitoring systems (HUMS) for its Boeing Chinook CH-47SD helicopters.

Honeywell claims the low installation time of the technology ‘will minimise the impact on operational readiness and downtime during the fielding process’.

Data from analytical tools in the HUMS can be loaded onto a ground-based station, thus circumventing the need for OEM technicians to be present.

A similar HUMS was fitted on 71 US Army Chinooks in 2007-08, with Honeywell pointing out three benefits the RSAF: reduced unscheduled maintenance; increased operational readiness and aircraft availability; and
