H225M integration with AM39 begins tests
In-lab testing of the Exocet AM39 missile integrated with the H225M helicopter for the Brazilian Navy has begun, with several simulated missile launches undertaken during the three week testing period.
The test team consists of the Helibras Engineering Center in close cooperation with Airbus Helicopters, Exocet AM39 manufacturer MBDA, Atech and Airbus Defence and Space.
This first stage of testing is being undertaken to verify the connection between the Naval Mission System developed for the Brazilian Navy’s H225M, and missile launchers, to test different modes of operation and to check the instruments that will be used during test flights.
Test benching will resume in early 2016 to test missiles with the prototype aircraft while in flight in Brazil.
Richard Marelli, vice president of operations, Helibras, said: ‘This is another milestone for the H-XBR programme, one that confirms Helibras’ total commitment to the project and highlights the professionalism and high level of expertise of Helibras in Brazil.’
