Helibras to build indigenous aircraft in mid-2020s

Eurocopter CEO Lutz Bertling has confirmed that Helibras will design and develop an indigenous helicopter in the mid 2020s.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the new final assembly line for the EC725 at Itajuba on 2 October, Bertling said he was now ready to speak to authorities within the Brazilian government to get support for the project.

'Our objective is to have the first 100% designed and built Brazilian helicopter to be delivered to the market in the mid-2020s as part of the Eurocopter product range,’ Bertling said.

'This will mean even more capabilities will be created in Itajuba,'
