Heli-Expo 2016: MD reveals new attack helicopter (video)
MD Helicopters has launched a new attack helicopter programme it has dubbed the ‘6XX’ with the aggressive timeline of being ready for market in 2018.
Announcing the programme at Heli-Expo in Louisville, MD Helicopters owner Lynn Tilton said the 6XX would be the next evolution of the MD500 series but would be a clean-sheet design.
‘With the 6XX we are looking at what the next single engine attack helicopter looks like. We are looking at a range of technologies that will be integrated on the aircraft, including a new cockpit, modern rotor blades and new propulsion system,’ Tilton said.
