Heli-Expo 2016: Civil V-280 not yet on horizon

Despite bringing its V-280 military tiltrotor to the civil helicopter extravaganza that is Heli-Expo, Bell Helicopter has again poured cold water over suggestions it is considering a commercial variant of the aircraft.

Addressing reporters at Heli-Expo for the first time as company CEO, Mitch Snyder instead emphasised the role that Bell Helicopter still plays on the AgustaWestland AW609 programme when asked about the prospects of a civil V-280.

Bell pulled out of the full AW609 partnership in 2011 and Snyder acknowledged that the content the company now has on the programme was relatively small.
