Heli-Expo 2012: Pratt and Whitney to provide second engine option for X4

Eurocopter has revealed that Pratt & Whitney is to provide an engine for its next generation X4 helicopter.

Speaking to journalists at a round-table at Heli-Expo 2012 in Dallas, CEO Lutz Bertling said that all aircraft programmes launched under his tenorship of the company would feature the option of a second engine to reduce the risk of delay to the programme. 

He then confirmed that the second engine would be provided by Pratt & Whitney, but would not be drawn on the model or size of the engine.
