Heli-Expo 2012: EC130 is given the makeover treatment

12th February 2012 - 23:39 GMT | by Tony Osborne in Dallas, US

Eurocopter has received more than 100 orders for its latest version of the EC130 single-engined light helicopter.

The EC130 T2 first flew in secret in March 2011 but was finally unveiled to the world on 12 February at Heli-Expo 2012 in Dallas.

The majority of the orders have come from aerial tour operators Maverick Helicopters, Papillon Helicopters and Blue Hawaiian Helicopters.

The EC130 has become a popular choice among aerial tour providers because of the high visibility and low-noise characteristics. Maverick, which provides tours around Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon region, has ordered 50 examples of the T2 alone.
