Heli-Expo 2012: Bell unveils 525 Super Medium Transport

Bell Helicopter has unveiled the new 525 Relentless Super Medium Transport (SMT), which it hopes will come to define a new civil helicopter category.

After months of speculation about the configuration of the new SMT helicopter being developed under the auspices of the Magellan project, the company took the wraps of the 525 at Heli-Expo in Dallas on 12 February.

The Bell 525 Relentless is positioned at the upper end of the medium class of helicopter, with capacity for 16 passengers and featuring five main rotor blades, a fly-by-wire system developed by BAE Systems, a side stick cyclic, a ‘lift
