Heavy-lift of hope for German helicopter market

As political stability returns to Germany with Angela Merkel returning as chancellor for her fourth term, upcoming defence procurement decisions for the nation’s heavy-lift programme will be of key interest to industry whether it opts for domestic support or to the international market.

Industry continues to wait with baited breath on the requirements and more specifically on the proportional allocation of home labour in relation to production of the air force’s heavy-lift helicopter programme - Wolfgang Schoder, CEO of Airbus Helicopters Germany, commented that this decision will impact German industry either way.
