HAL conducts flight trials for ALH's EASA certification
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) recently conducted noise measurement flight trials of the Advance Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv helicopter for European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certification.
The tests were conducted at Mysuru airport in compliance with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), and were witnessed by EASA representatives. According to T Suvarna Raju, chairman, HAL, the preliminary analysis of the data indicates that the noise levels are within the ICAO's specified limits.
Anotec Consulting provided the hardware, software and technical support for the trials, which aimed to measure external aircraft noise levels at take-off, approach and flyover. A total of eight flights with 96 noise runs were carried out during the trials.
The ALH Dhruv helicopter is designed for military and civil operations and is currently being operated by the Indian armed forces and a number of other state departments.
