Performance trials of the Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) are now complete, paving way for weapon trials to commence, HAL announced on 16 October.

A letter of completion of performance flight trials of LCH has been handed over to HAL by the Centre for Military Airworthiness & Certification (CEMILAC).

LCH has completed performance flight trials which involved testing at extreme environment conditions such as cold weather at Leh, sea level at Chennai, hot and high altitude tests at Leh, and hot weather at Jodhpur.

HAL expects to earn operational clearance from CEMILAC based on successful completion of remaining the flight trials.

T. Suvarana Raju, CMD, HAL, said: ‘LCH is the only attack helicopter which can operate above 10000 – 12000ft altitude with considerable load of armament.’
