Guimbal lays out lofty autonomous ambitions

The VSR700, an autonomous military helicopter jointly developed by Hélicoptères Guimbal and Airbus Helicopters, is gathering momentum towards certification.

Derived from Guimbal’s successful light helicopter, the Cabri G2, the VSR700 has been taking shape over the last decade and flight trials of a optionally piloted demonstrator began in June.

Bruno Guimbal, president of Hélicoptères Guimbal, said at the RAeS Cierva lecture in London on 10 October that this year will be a strong year for the VSR700 programme.

‘This year is very strong and we are seeing huge potential for the VSR700 with the French Navy and Asian navies,’ Guimbal
