The US Army has awarded a five-year $47 million maximum value procurement contract to Goodrich for additional components of its AN/AVR-2A(V) laser warning system.

In a statement released on 1 February, Goodrich said the AN/AVR-2A(V) ‘enhances aircraft survivability’ by detecting multiple laser aided threats and weapons systems.

The indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract for the provision of components, will be carried out by Goodrich’s ISR Systems team in Danbury, Connecticut.

‘This contract allows for the supply and support of this critical equipment deployed in the field, while continuing production of the next generation system,’ said Andreas Nonnenmacher, vice president, ISR Systems

The AN/AVR-2A(V) has been in production since 1995. The system is capable of multiple aircraft signal interfaces, and can detect rangefinder, target designator, and beam rider laser-aided threats.

It can also interface with the Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System, Air-to-Ground Engagement System II (MILES-AGES II) training system.

More than 1,500 of these systems have been delivered to the various armed forces during the past 25 years. Overall, some 8,500 aviation and ground laser warning systems have been delivered to the US and other armed forces worldwide.
