French Navy receives second NH90
On 7 September, the French Navy tool delivery of the second NH90 Caiman helicopter.
The aircraft equipped with sonar and tactical consoles landed at the Naval Air Station Hyères to join the Centre d'expérimentations Pratiques et de réception de l'Aéronautique navale
The Caiman is expected to enter service in naval aviation in the fall of 2011 at Lanvéoc. 27 Caiman will be delivered by 2021 to replace the Super Frelon and the Lynx to carry out the anti-submarine and surface warfare mission as well as transport and rescue operations at sea.
The French Navy say, the aircraft is able to perfrom all the functions currently performed by ship-board helicopters but with significantly increased performance.
