French Navy Dauphins destined for French Polynesia

The first Eurocopter AS365N3+ helicopters are destined for French Navy use in French Polynesia.

The aircraft have been purchased as part of state programme to replace the Puma and Fennec helicopters operated by the French Air Force in Tahiti for search and rescue and other utility tasks in the region.

In a statement, the French Navy said the new aircraft are perfectly suited to the role serving a coastal area that is equivalent in size to the European continent. It said that with two aircraft, operations can be maintained without interruption even during periods of maintenance.
