In 2010, the French Navy will receive its first examples of the NH90 helicopter.

Today the first Navy NH90 crew have begun training ready to begin the first missions with Secmar at Lanvéoc in autumn 2011.

In appearance, NH90 simulator is an exact replica of the helicopter: ergonomics, glass cockpit, electric controls, but because the crews are having to train on the simulator for the land version of the aircraft, the mission system is radically different.

This has not prevented the crew, pilot, operator and tactics instructor embarked in the "Full Flight Simulator NH90" from appreiciating the lifelike simulation. The crew can still train to fly the aircraft carry out takeoff, landing, fault management, and work to understand the machine and all its features. The goal is to acquire an instinctive knowledge of the aircraft.

But before arriving at the simulation phase, the detachment of men were trained up. Three teams were selected to receive training and a training track for the arrival of the aircraft this year. The simulator phase is the latest step in a comprehensive training programme started in September which ends in February. Once this phase is completed, the crews will work with Eurocopter and spend time training on the real naval systems on the first NH90.
