Four Mi-171Shs delivered to Angola

5th April 2016 - 14:50 GMT | by Alexander Mladenov in Sofia

In the second half of March this year, the Angolan Air Force took on strength four Mi-171Sh assault transport helicopters.

Produced at the Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant (U-UAP) in Russia, these were the second batch of eight ordered.

The first batch of four was taken on strength in 2015. The helicopters were ordered through Rosoboronexport, Russia’s arms export monopolist agency.

After the initial acceptance at the U-UAP, the four Mi-171Shs were shipped by an An-124 airlifter to Angola in a partially assembled form.

Then, after re-assembly the helicopters underwent their final acceptance programme before being handed over to the Angolan MoD.
