First Swedish A109 lands on the Visby

The Swedish Navy has completed the first landing of its A109 naval helicopter on the Visby-class Corvette.

The first A109E - Swedish designation Hkp 15 - landing took place on Friday, August 28 as part of a qualification programme by the FMV, the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration. Deck qualification trials will continue into September and be completed by October with more take-offs and landings at sea.
 
The Swedish Armed Forces are putting emphasis on shipboard helicopter operations as they plan to continue their involvement in the European Union's anti-piracy operation, Operation Atalanta.
