FIDAE 2016: Hard landing for Airbus in Latin America

The tough economic conditions in Latin American has impacted all the main rotary-wing OEMs, not least Airbus Helicopters and its Brazilian subsidiary Helibras, which saw a significant drop in aircraft delivered in the region for 2015.

The number of commercial and military helicopter units delivered in the region had gone from 215 in 2013, down to just 60 last year, according to Mesrob Karalekian, Airbus Helicopters' VP and head of Latin America region.

This represents an almost 30% drop in sales over a two year period, Karalekian told journalists at the FIDAE airshow in Chile.
