FIDAE 2012: AEL Sistema and Ares promoting Brazilian-made laser guided rocket system

Elbit Systems' Brazilian subsidiaries AEL Sistemas and rocket manufacturer Ares are using the FIDAE air show to promote a new laser guided rocket system.

The STAR rocket uses the same seeker head used on the Guided Advanced Tactical Rocket (GATR) being developed by Elbit in conjunction with ATK.

The programme is at its early stages, but is aimed for use by the rotary-wing fleets of Latin American countries.
