FDR image capability progresses

Curtiss-Wright is actively evaluating the image recording capabilities for its Fortress Next Generation flight data recorder, Shephard has learned.

The crash recorders, which are ED-112A compliant, currently collect data through a constant stream of voice recordings, with images being taken concurrently.

Fortress 757, which can be installed onto rotorcraft, supports parametric flight data for a minimum of 25 hours’ capacity.

The applications part of the FDR includes airborne data recording, flight data monitoring and cockpit voice recording.

Voice recordings record constantly with no silence editing and the image recording is actively being evaluated at the moment.
