FAA approves all-glass cockpit for MD 530F
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has approved MD Helicopters’ advanced, all-glass cockpit for the MD 530F (type certified 369FF) helicopter.
The new single-engine all-glass type design option cockpit features Howell Instruments electronic engine instruments and crew alert system, Garmin G500H TXi electronic flight instruments with touchscreen GDU 700P PFD/MFD, Garmin GTN 650 touchscreen NAV/COM/GPS and an optional L-3 ESI 500 electronic standby instrument.
The company is in the process of applying for type design certification for this cockpit configuration for its remaining single-engine helicopter models.
Deliveries of the first production aircraft featuring this all-new cockpit have already started, with the initial aircraft assigned for the US Army and Afghan Air Force as well as Virginia Beach Police Department.
