Exelis receives US Army helicopter radio order
The US Army has ordered the Exelis ARC-201D radios for installation in its UH-60M Blackhawk and CH-47F Chinook helicopters. The $10.9 million contract was issued by the US Defense Logistics Agency.
The Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio System (SINCGARS) qualified ARC-201D is the primary Army Aviation voice communications radio for the US Army’s UH-60M and CH-47F helicopters. It provides voice and data communications and has networking and anti-jamming capabilities.
Nick Bobay, president of the Exelis Night Vision & Communications Solutions division, said: ‘With nearly 600,000 SINCGARS delivered to the army to date, the ARC-201D easily integrates into the army’s critical network on the battlefield providing proven, robust and secure communications for warfighters.’
The radios will be produced at Exelis’ Fort Wayne facility.
