Eurocopter puts new avionics philosophy to the test

Eurocopter has begun to validate the new avionics suite of the EC145T2, with the first prototype to incorporate the company’s new design philosophy taking to the air for the first time on 28 October.

While the first prototype of the new variant flew for the first time in June of 2010, this aircraft is effectively a hybrid as it features the legacy avionics suite of the EC145 and is largely being dedicated to air vehicle and flight behaviour testing. Some 250 hours of flights tests have now been logged, including a series of hot and high tests in the US.
