Erickson to support MH-53E refurb
Adams Communication & Engineering Technologies (ACET) has subcontracted Erickson Incorporated for the refurbishment of two US Navy MH-53E helicopters, Erickson announced on 5 January.
The work is being carried out in support of the navy's Heavy Lift Helicopter Program. The two MH-53E Sea Dragon helicopters will undergo a multi-stage refurbishment schedule to return them to service.
The contract has one base year and one optional year.
The MH-53E is used primarily by the navy for Airborne Mine Countermeasures (AMCM), with secondary missions of vertical shipboard delivery and assault support.
According to the company this is the first time the navy has contracted a commercial company for a depot-level maintenance event of the MH-53E helicopter. Erikson will draw on its experience with the S-64 for the work.
Jeff Roberts, president and CEO, Erickson, said: 'Erickson is pleased to partner with ACET in support of this project. We take great pride in assisting the navy to enhance their fleet capabilities.’
