Elbit Systems Receives KAI Elite Supplier Award
Elbit Systems was selected by Korea Aerospace Industry (KAI) as one of their top four Elite Suppliers for the Korean Utility Helicopter (KUH) program.
The four top companies were selected over some 80 companies involved in KAI's main programs and announced during KAIs’ suppliers’ symposium.
Elbit Systems supplies the program's prime contractor KAI with three different types of airborne systems for the KUH: advanced Helmet Mounted Display systems (HMDs), Vehicle Information systems (VIS) and a Data Transfer Systems (DTS). Elbit Systems is also a subcontractor to KAI for systems engineering and integration of the entire KUH avionics system.
Yoram Shmuely, Co-General Manager of Elbit Systems' Aerospace Division, said: "We are greatly honored to have been selected by KAI as one of its top suppliers in this prestigious program. We take great pride in our ability to offer KAI and the Korean Army our high quality systems and project management processors."
Elbit Systems' advanced HMDs for the KUH will enable the helicopter pilot to fly "head out of the cockpit", having all the flight data projected onto the helmet.
This feature is crucial as it allows the pilot to perform missions successfully, ensuring high situational awareness and safety. Furthermore, the Line of Sight (LOS) feature allows correlation with the pilot's line of sight and designation of waypoints on the navigation system in real-time, such as targets, threats and intelligence.
