No mention of Egyptian AW149 order in Leonardo's 2019 financials

A supposed contract for at least 20 Leonardo AW149 8t-class helicopters from Egypt has not been listed among the orders signed off by the manufacturer in 2019, new company financial records show.

Several reports circulating in April last year publicised Leonardo securing an order from Cairo for the aircraft, with Paris-based financial newspaper La Tribune asserting that Egypt had selected the AW149 over a rival bid by Airbus, which had proposed the NH90 multirole helicopter.

No confirmation of the Egyptian order has ever been made by Leonardo, and the company’s FY2019 results, released on 12 March, did not mention
