Echo Apaches performing beyond expectations

US Army AH-64E Apache attack helicopters deployed to Afghanistan have been described as more lethal than their ‘D’ model predecessor, according to senior figures in the service.

Describing the March deployment of the 1st-229th Attack Reconnaissance Battalion to Kandahar province in Afghanistan, Col Jeff Hager, US Army project manager for Apache, said the two dozen models were proving ‘more efficient and powerful’ than their previous counterparts.
