Dubai Airshow 2017: GE to refurbish US Army helicopter engines

General Electric has been awarded a multi-million fixed price contract for the overhaul and recapitalisation of its T700 portfolio of engines fitted to the US Army’s rotorcraft.

The location of the refit will be decided on a case-by-case basis. The $84.1 million deal was announced by the US DoD on 3 November.

The refurbishment of the T700 engines will take place on the Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk and the Boeing AH-64 Apaches. At this stage the anticipated completion date has been earmarked for three years’ time.

The turboshaft was manufactured in response to a US Army requirement for added power
