DSEi 09: AW149 to fly in 2010

AgustaWestland is set to fly its first prototype AW149 at the beginning of 2010.?

Development of the new eight-tonne battlefield support helicopter has been ongoing for the past five years and a full-scale mock up of the aircraft has is on display at the DSEi exhibition in London's Docklands.?

"The AW149 has built on the lessons learnt from operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, and is designed to meet the needs of the customer of today," said a company spokesman.?

"The 149 will fit into our military family between the AW159 and the AW101."
